***UPDATE: Winner is announced below!***
As some of you might know, I hit a big milestone on my Facebook page – 1000 likers!!
I’m a bit in awe that there are so many of you that like my work. All of what you see over there are things that I’ve made myself – homewares and accessories from vintage and upcycled fabrics, as well as jewellery in silver and anodised aluminium.
To celebrate, I’m giving you the opportunity to win some fab prizes – and YOU get to choose what you’d like.
Here are your choices …
Do you have a small biz, selling on Etsy or Madeit? Would you like a complete shop makeover? I’ll make you a new banner, edit up to 6 of your photos, and give you a bunch of practical advice on strategies to improve your shop for the future.
OR, would you like to set yourself up on a blog? I can start you up on Blogger or WordPress, no problems.
OR you can get 6 months free advertising on my sidebar here for your shop or blog PLUS a gift voucher for $90 from the tractorgirl shop
OR a gift voucher for $150 from the tractorgirl shop. Woohoo!!!
(And there’s also a special bonus local prize for people who live near me in Wagga Wagga – a magnificent image from photographer Christopher Orchard – details will be on the Facebook page shortly!)
Each of these prizes is worth between $150 and $200, so get to it! It’s easy to enter!!
Here’s how:
1. Be a tractorgirl Facebook Liker (OK I can’t check this, but I’d appreciate it if you did the right thing!),
2. Check the “Colouring My Day” posts below (there’s six posts in all), and choose your favourite object/surface design/photo from the works I’ve chosen.
3. Then, just leave a comment below this post telling me what’s your favourite item and why. Don’t forget to include a contact so I can find you if you’ve won!
Easy Peasy!?!?! Of course it is.
When the comp closes, I will choose my fave comment as the winner – so make ’em good! Competition is open worldwide, and closes at midnight on Sunday 21st July, AEST.
Thank you SO much everyone!!!
Julie xx

…and the winner is ASTRID!!!
Hooray!!
She chose the white cardboard torso by Horst Keichle (one of my personal faves too), and had this to say…
“It’s hard to say what is my favorite- the jewelry from the underwater series is blowing my mind as is that ring from brown- ARGGGGG!! But, if I had to pick I would go with the white torso:
At my day job I work with kids at a hospital and one of the things I do is spend a lot of time teaching them about procedures they are going to have, or what’s happening to their body because of a particular illness. I spend a lot of time in environments and using tools that have very little attention to design and aesthetics. I love the idea of this white, paper torso with organs and think it is a gorgeous work of art, as well as a great teaching tool- form and function!!”
Wouldn’t that be wonderful? Making hospitals a much more friendly environment, especially for kids, would have benefits in both directions – happier, calmer patients can only be a good thing for staff too.
Astrid has chosen to get herself a new blog, so keep an eye out – there will be a huge fanfare when it’s launched! Congrats Astrid, and thank you ALL for liking and supporting my little corner of the interwebs, I truly appreciate it.

Congratulations on hitting 1,000! That’s 1,000 inspired people thanks to you. I’m new here to your blog and really enjoying my stay. So thanks.
My favourite piece is Aquaplume by Sandra Darling. The colour and light pulls me deeply in and my eyes do not rest anywhere, but remain exploring. I decided to write a Haiku poem about this piece for my answer:
Undulating waves
chase buoyant notions within.
Sunrise bursting through.
All the best

I love the White Chalk Julie particularly the Snow Angel and the Countryside Houses.
It was a hard decision i like lots of others as well.
Congrats on reaching 1000 likers!
I love your work.
Michelle Bourke.
Thank you so much Michelle! We really need to catch up again soon, too. 🙂
Paula Mendoza’s Citroen tower ring. I love the way it is like a piece of the earth(cave) attached and imposing. It like it is a negative ion booster to the depleted body. Makes me feel strong! Reminds me of my scultural BIG rings i use to make when still practicing, makes me want to start again…
I hadn’t actually thought about it that way, but IS a very powerful piece! Thanks Bec 🙂 x
Hi! For me Cheryl Malone’s Ceramic Vessel is the most mesmerising, and that’s a quality I think I just realised I subconsciously look for in surface design, probably a non-design/non-technical term but still a part of experiencing the object or image, I think.
YES Jenny! I do love an intriguing surface. It can make all the difference between ordinary and extraordinary. Thanks!
I’m a facebook liker! (of course!)
So hard to chose one of the beautiful illustrations from the posts.
I love the underwater picture. I think it is the colours that appeal to me – my favorite colours. The unusual perspective is awesome as well.
Love your work Julie : )
I better post my comment now before I start looking again and hesitate again!
First of all though a big Congratulations on reaching 1000 likers! I hope you had a great celebration drink / dinner / lunch 🙂
My favourite piece is SEULGI KWON – CERAMIC – NECKLACE. It is so unusual and the photo just makes me want to reach in and touch it to feel the weight and texture. I love the contrast of colours and its organic look.
Thank you for sharing all those beautiful works of Art. I hope you have lots of fun reading all the comments!
I love the Terhi Tolvan brooch too. I just love ceramic things that look real – like pods, or bugs or things. Gorgeous!
SMOKE CITY – UNDERWATER LOVE……
SIVAN ROYZ – LASER CUT SILK NECKPIECE (DETAIL) love this piece soooo much!I can’t believe it was all laser cut as it looks so organic.
Lovely work Tractor girl on the 1000 likes! Great website, great posts and great resources and links to many fantastic creatives.
This is an incredibly hard decision to make as there are so many beautiful things! I really love the Paper Bracelet by Jennaca Davies- the flowers are so lovely and the colours are just perfect! However, I especially like the White Chalk series as I actually find it more interesting visually when there is no colour and you can focus purely on the image. I really love the collection and the PJ Harvey song makes it all seem very hauntingly beautiful and quite sad, especially with the White Sea photo by WildWildernessPhotos. It might seem boring to pick a photo of the sea from this collection but to me it’s a very powerful image. I grew up near the sea and now live very very far away from it, and it’s something that can’t be replaced x
Well this was a tough choice. Favourite song is probably Underwater Love, but I also have a long-standing love of Ms Harvey. My favourite item are the brooches by Dorota Kos, which is surprising as I’m not normally a neon fan, but somehow these are both bright and subtle at the same time, which I like! And then I also really like the Twiggy pattern. But overall for sheer beauty and because it makes me want to live underwater like a mermaid, the photo by Claudio Gazzaroli is my fave.
What a fantastic giveaway!!! I am very much a FB fan (as Deborah Davey). 🙂
I love your Underwater Love theme, especially the brooch by Terhi Tolvanen – it reminded me very strongly of the ocean and the many trips I’ve taken to rockpools as a child.
I got a complete surprise when I saw PJ Harveys bug bracelet. It inspired me and completely coloured my day, so thanks for that. Great competition. Nice milestone. Keep up the great work and play x
I love the Human Torso. The shapes and lines are incredible. And my little sis is a med student, so I have a leaning towards finding things like that to share with her.
White Chalk! How hauntingly simple and beautiful! That PJ Harvey track is also the perfect accompaniment for perusing the beautiful Vlad Photography on etsy! I love the “La Partitura De La Vita”image you have shared!
ps. Well done on your milestone!
definitely sahara – why? so naturally elegant – so orange! mmmm
Congrats on hitting 1000 likers! That is amazing, I just hit my first 100 and every little liker is such an inspiration and motivation to write more. And thanks for liking my blog’s facebook page too.
As for the picture, I really like the AURORA BOREALIS from YUKON, CANADA. The neon lights that take to the skies is really a gift from Mother nature. It has been my dream since I was a little girl to see the Northern lights and just bask it is awesomeness.
Plus I love bright colours, there’s just too much black in this world
Wow, what an offer! I think my favourite is the little houses by Poast, because they have always been my favourite, but I also love the paper torso by Horst Kiechle and the ‘flight of pigeons’
OMGOODNESS there are so many yummy things. I think my favourite are the POAST countryside houses. This is is a super generous offer. Thank you Tractorgirl. Your work rocks my world ^_^.
Congrats! 🙂
I like All Neon Like. Am a massive colour lover, and that picture of the Aurora is amazing! I love that such colours can be created by nature. Plus, bjork is very cool
Hi Julie,
Just discovered your blog through Pinterest_Blogshare board (which I’m also in) and LOVED your blog and all that you feature! I share some of your passions and would love to continue the dialogue!
In regards to the contest: I was most inspired by “Underwater love”… specially: sivan royz – laser cut silk neckpiece, because most of my work is inspired by nature and the underwater landscape and creatures… corals, algae, it’s movement, it’s colours and forms…
I hope you check out my blog and give me some feedback!!!
Cheers and Congratulations!!!!

Thanks for your very kind words Michele! And absolutely you are welcome to contribute here any time. Off to check your blog now 🙂
while i also am a big fan of the Stranglers … {Golden Brown}… I have to go with the Underwater Love Post … used to scuba dive many years ago, so those colours and textures in your pics and especially the pantina piece had me wishing I was still on the back deck stepping off into barrier reef again … 1000 likers – fantastic ! feels like heaven don’t it? x
scuba diving is such excellent fun Deb – my first experience was in Fiji, in THE most spectacular coral reef. Soooo many colours, soooo many fish… Thanks!!
For me, the Citrine Big Tower Ring is so BEAUTIFUL and ELEGANT. One need not wear anything else but the ring. The Strangers -Golden Brown song was interesting…I’m going out on a limb thinking it was about hashish…marmite isn’t my favorite.
Hey Aggie, the marmite reference was in regard to a tongue-in-cheek comment about the song by one of the band members when the song first became popular. I always thought it was about hashish too – but apparently popular opinion is that it’s about heroin. That’s a teensy bit beyond my experience, so I couldn’t tell you 😉
I think I was a late comer at number 997 Congratulations on 1000.
Mmm, hard choice but I think my favourite is White Chalk in particular the countryside houses. They are exquisite. Very me.
Your competition is almost motivation enough to get my shop up and running again.
Almost? Definitely! Do it! Thank you so very much, and all the best, J 🙂
It’s hard to say what is my favorite- the jewelry from the underwater series is blowing my mind as is that ring from brown- ARGGGGG!! But, if I had to pick I would go with the white torso here:

Well done Julie!!! I love the patinated copper pendant. Beauty comes with age.
My favorite piece is the brooch by Terhi Tolvanen. Aside from the fact that it includes my birthstone, aquamarine… I adore all the amazing visual contrasts. polished, textured. light, dark. highs and lows. It’s otherworldly and earthy all at once.
Congrats on reaching 1000!
PS – Being from the US, I’ve gotta say I loved the Jimi Hendrix… 😀
congrats tractorgirl!
I love the underwater love series.
I really love that song – it’s playing in my head now, thank you – but I also really love the colour palette of underwater.
it’s ethereally beautiful and contains the colours of dreams and surreality and mystery and possibility.
I have a deep love for patinated copper and think verdigris is one of the most beautiful colours of all.
Congrats on 1000! I love a good milestone. I particularly loved white chalk – love the colour reference and idea it conjures up – and neon and it was hard to pick a fave. The simplicity of the White Sea is just stunning but I can never go past a borealis picture either!
I love White Chalk – the whole day is just so minimalist but poignant, I especially love the collection of houses by Poast a fave shop of mine on etsy.
Congrats on 1000 fb likers, that is epic, and yet so well deserved.
