Motorists were today asking ‘why did the chicken cross the road?’ as a 7ft tall cardboard chicken held up rush hour traffic in central London.

Drivers and pedestrians watched in bemusement as the huge sculpture, painstakingly made from scores of recycled cardboard boxes, strutted across busy carriageways.

The chicken, created by animal charity the RSPCA, to launch their Good Business Awards. It was spotted in central London and mimicking the iconic Beatles album cover at Abbey Road.
