Ekaterina Panova’s surface designs are dense with detail and a sense of wit. Friendly robots, monsters, birds and flowers compete for space in her repeats, along with aliens, bad bunnies and cyclops kitties. Too fun! Her colours are bright yet relaxed, with lots of muted primaries defined with soft blacks.
She lives in St Petersburg, Russia, with her two children. Before her first child, she worked as a graphic designer in advertising, but left when her daughter was born. She continued working at home part time, designing websites and helping on other projects for friends.

In 2009, she discovered illustration and the world of microstocks, and hasn’t looked back.
She loves to create different funny characters and make patterns with them, and it was after loading a few of her patterns onto the microstock sites that she discovered that the patterns were very popular. She then found out about Spoonflower, and loved that you could print your own designs onto fabric. She also likes other sites that print goods for you, like Zazzle and Redbubble. “I feel happiness every time when I see that somebody liked or bought goods with my illustration or pattern. It’s the best inspiration for every creature, isn’t it?”

“I also love to communicate with creative and positive people in person or via internet. I read blogs, visit exhibitions and sites devoted to illustration, craft and design, and collect themed books. And I am happy that it is all around me now and hope to give my children these sensations of life.”
