Larry Jang is one half of J2 Studios, which he runs with his wife Christina (also a photographer), from their studio in Edmonton, Canada.
He loves where he lives. “Here, we are blessed with wide open spaces. Beautiful prairies. Mountains within 5 hours drive.” And this sentiment is easy to recognize in his photography – some of his landscape images especially are truly monumental. But while his interests include a wide range of subject matter, his vision excels in images of architecture as well as landscape. He has also travelled widely, especially through Europe and the USA, and has collected some amazing pictures in the process.
Larry also adores windows and doors. He says, “They are fascinating to me because they’re untold stories…of families…of history…of the memories both happy and sad behind.” As a viewer and visitor, they remain eternally mysterious.”
Larry told me he has been photographing things for as long as he can remember, although he only turned professional about 6-7 years ago. He says he owes his passion to the influence of his father who was a keen amateur photographer.
The thing that he loves most about his work is hearing the responses from his customers. He says it is a wonderful thing “having them emotionally stirred by your work, so that they feel compelled to purchase it. As an artist, this is a huge compliment and I appreciate each and every one.”
