I first came across Jessica Morrison’s work via the wonderful Studio Ingot (yet another  fab place for contemporary jewellery in Melbourne that must be visited!).

Jessica’s approach to jewellery straddles the line between graphic and whimsical, and her latest group of work is reminiscent of snowflakes, star symbols from ancient cultures and the translucency of sunlit water.

Of this group she says “The stillness of dreamy thoughts is transferred into the works through the meditative processes applied to create these ethereal pieces.”

“As a child and as an adult Jessica Morrison is still looking out the window and daydreaming, drawing on treasured time spent being still and letting the mind wander. Blurring the lines of focus and just relishing in light, colour and possibility.”

Besides making beautiful jewellery, Jessica is now super-busy as she has joined forces with friends and fellow jewellers Matthew Bracken and Coconut Lu to open a brand spanking new jewellery and object store in Williamstown, Melbourne called Artifice. They have filled their shelves with wonderful Australian art and design-y stuff, including jewellery (of course!) as well as a great selection of ceramics, textiles, and homewares.
