Elle Moss is mysterious and elusive, much like her images. And she’s not actually Elle at all, but is really an invention of Lisa Sieczka, a photographer from the small town of Saline, Michigan, where she lives with her husband, two kids and two cats, in a two storey house.
Elle Moss photography straddles a line between dreamy and surreal, inclusive of strange butterflies and animal masks, with several images reminiscent of Cindy Sherman‘s staged self portraits. A muted palette with soft colour casts contributes to a feeling of age and of vintage, of images lost and found by unnamed viewers.
When Lisa is not being Elle Moss, she is being AliceBGardens, a photographer devoted to sweetness and vintage teacups (although I do find it disconcerting to see the same rabbit mask here and here. Just goes to show what context can do). And when she’s not being Alice, she’s one half of photographer team BirdAndBloke. Apart from that, she writes a few blogs – Elle Moss, and Diary of a Mod Housewife. {phew, how does she keep up?}
Elle’s work has been featured in many high profile places, including Maeve magazine and ElleGirl Korea; Decor8 and Apartment Therapy.

These are simply STUNNING I love them. So powerful!
They are. My particular favourite is Ophelia – that direct gaze is a bit disquieting 🙂
