The last week of tractorgirl’s holidays at the beach with her family. There’s more music, but the mood is changing again, moving from gentle thoughts of distant things to emerging from the salt-haze and becoming more present. There’s a sense of expectation in the air, and we’re just about to hit the ground running…

Goldfrapp haven’t always been on my playlist – the poppy glamrock electronica of their last couple of albums reminded me of butter frosting – a little is OK, but too much makes you feel sick.

However, I love their latest offering – Tales of Us. The lyrics hint at loss and love, but the stories of the people they are about are conveyed more fully in the film clips. Annabel  is a beautiful song; reminiscent of 60s film scores, with bell-like vocals and warm resonance. The clip tells the story of a boy; skip to the music at about 2.55  if you must.
